[Vancouver, January 2025] – Lisa Cheng, a pioneering entrepreneur and early advocate for blockchain technology, and previously the founder of Vanbex Group, is pleased to announce that the legal proceedings surrounding her former company have been fully resolved. The case, which garnered significant public and media attention, concluded with all allegations against her being dismissed and the return of all assets initially seized.


The civil forfeiture proceedings began in 2019, following allegations related to the financial activities of a former business partner at Vanbex Group. However, after a thorough investigation, it was determined that there was no evidence of wrongdoing on Lisa Cheng’s part. All frozen assets were returned in 2022, affirming her lack of involvement in any alleged illegal activities.


“This has been an incredibly challenging chapter in my life, but I am grateful to finally put it behind me,” said Cheng. “The resolution of this case reaffirms my commitment to integrity and transparency, both in my professional endeavors and personal life.”


Lisa Cheng founded Vanbex Group, her first blockchain company, in her early twenties when Bitcoin was still in its infancy, trading at just $300. As one of the few women in the industry, she faced significant obstacles, including gender bias and a lack of resources for female entrepreneurs in tech. Despite these challenges, Cheng built a reputation as a forward-thinking leader, contributing to the development of decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and other innovative blockchain projects.


While the resolution of the case marks the end of a difficult period, Cheng has emerged stronger and more determined to support others in the blockchain community.
